The Lady Islanders lost a tough game Tuesday night against the Military Magnet Eagles 45-32. They were doomed by a cold shooting second quarter in which they were outscored 14-3. The Eagles led 27-12 at the break. The Islanders roared back in the 4th quarter to cut the lead to 7 points early in the 4th but would get no closer.
The game was a physical one in which the referees let them play without calling some fouls. The game got more and more physical as the game wore on until a fight broke out at 5:37 to go in the game. Both benches cleared and even some spectators came on the floor. Order was quickly restored by the coaches, policeman, and ST Johns staff. After a lengthy delay, the game was started again with both benches being ejected and one of the Islanders starters. So for the last 5:37, the Islanders had to play with only 4 players versus 5. Sole Stanley led the scoring with 16 points and Bernardica Brown had 8 .
The Lady Islanders will look to rebound this Friday as they host the Lowcountry Leadership Gators looking for the season sweep.
