The varsity Islander boys team will face Woodland in their holiday tournament Wednesday December 20th at 8 PM. That is the time that I’ve been told even though it says 12 PM on their schedule listed on this site. If there is a time change I will let you know on here. I suppose that there will be another game Thursday but truthfully do not know the layout of the tournament yet but will update everyone when I do.
The varsity Boys will also compete in Ashley Ridge’s holiday tournament that will be held after Christmas. The first game will be Friday, December 29th against Philip Simmons at 6 PM and there will be another game Saturday, December 30th. Both of these games will be at Ashley Ridge High School.
The boys would love your support in these tournaments, but I know that it is a long drive from home for most of us.
The Islanders improved to 3-6 overall and 2-1 in Region play with a come from behind victory Monday night over Military Magnet 48-44. This was the Islanders first road Region game and they won an exciting battle as they were tested by the young Eagles. The Eagles ran out to a 28-12 lead at the half on the strength of a 18-3 second quarter. The Islanders plugged away in the third and chopped that lead in half at the end of 3 with the Eagles leading 36-28. The Islanders turned up the defensive pressure in the 4th quarter and took their first lead with a minute to go. The Islanders held on as the Eagles got several looks at three pointers to tie before Tyrus Richardson hit one of two free throws to extend the lead to 4.
